What I'm reading
November Edition
So let’s get one thing straight… there is a large possibility that I could be reading the same book for 6 months at a time. That’s just the way mom life and entrepreneurship have a way of working. However, I am hoping this community provides a bit of accountability & partnership in this department.
Books were not always my favorite pastime & even still, to this day, knowing how much joy & creativity reading brings into my world, I find it difficult to fully engulf myself in a story. I do, however, have a few books over the years that I literally can’t be pulled away from. I will find myself looking up after hours or taking drives just to listen to the book longer. (yes Audible counts as reading)
The list of “must reads” in my world are as follows:
(in no particular order)
You Better Be Lightening by Andrea GibsonUntamed by Glennon DoyleLike Streams to the Ocean by Jedidiah JenkinsClaim Your Power by Mastin Kipp (this one is more of a work book that I feel changed my whole life)This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur RileyThe Alchemist by Paulo CoelhoThe Four Agreements by Don Miguel RuizYou Are A Badass At Making Money by Jen SinceroQuit Like a Woman by Holly WhitakerThe Art Of Creative Rebellion by John S CouchCodependent No More by Melody BeattieThe Untethered Soul by Michael A SingerFated by S.G. Browne (for fun and laughs)
I have a thing about ordering the physical copies of books I listened to on Audible that made me fall in love. I have a few other books in my Instagram highlights not listed here that I absolutely loved as well but just aren’t my top top books.
Ok ok!!!! Get to the point already, right??? What in the world am I currently reading & more importantly, would you like to read it with me?
November read(s) take that () with a grain of salt as the second might take me a bit longer to get through since it is my “when I only have a quick second to read” a book.
I am working on listening to… and OMG the reader’s voice is sooooooooooo peaceful… Wintering by Katherine May for the Kate Eskuri book club on this app.
(If you don’t already follow her, she’s a must-read & follow too).
As I am about halfway through this book now, it has felt like one of the most delectable creamy desserts I have ever put my lips on. Like some symphony, I had longed to hear for all my life. It feels like calm. And what better time to listen to or read a book about Wintering than at the very start of Winter herself? It has been a beautiful reminder to find peace in the dullness, often painfulness, sometimes stormy seasons of life, & then how to rest in the beauty of what those times offer us.
I definitely suggest you join me (or us if you follow The Reset by Kate Eskuri) on this journey of wintering. I have already decided to follow this read with Katherine May’s previous book called Enchantment if that sounds any more “up your alley” you should definitely join me.
The second book on my November reads is 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think .
I’m pretty sure everyone I know has already read this one & I felt compelled to finally pick it up. So far, in my very honest opinion, it is off to a slow start for me. Feeling definitely less whimsical & more (as the title implies) essay-like. lol, duh Krystel… I know. But school stuff is a bit more difficult for me to fall into. However, if that’s your thing, then you will LOVE this read.
Long-winded much??? Welp, that’s all she wrote, literally.
I’d love to hear from you & about your favorite must-reads. Comment below what you’re reading or if you’d like to follow along and have us keep each other accountable.
